That shuttle did seem to be a forerunner to the express buses that began to spring up starting in the mid-'60's. As to that bus . . . looks like it originated out of 54th Street depot at the time.

It says something that it took a year from the creation of MaBSTOA to renumber old Surface buses - but 11 years from such bus renumberings to renumber certain bus routes in Manhattan, Queens and the B ...

Any of the Flx 4000's (TA buses, B.T.W.) ever see service on their five Manhattan routes? As for 5283, I presume that was a World's Fair service . . .

Looks like GM and/or OMOT, in its production list for TDH-5104's, was in error by listing the 1953 STS buses as 1050-1059 rather than 1090-1099. But yeah, much obliged.

(On a side note, anything i ...

The last in a series of one-way conversions of major Manhattan thoroughfares as had been implemented since 1948, goes into effect on this date, with Fifth Avenue between 138th Street and Washington Sq ...

These are four weeks prior to the 1972 Puerto Rican Day Parade, but on May 7, 1972 there had to have been something going on along Fifth Avenue to have the M1 and M2A rerouted down Lexington Avenue . ...

I found this info on my computer this afternoon.
I don't recall where I got it, but it describes depot assignments for MaBSTOA in September 1962 (the year that agency was formed):

132 St - 4507 (2 ...

Few queries:
- Wasn't ST's 1050-1059 order from 1953 (TDH-5104) renumbered 2590-2599 after 1962? And what would 3291 have been, originally?
- As of December 1965, MaBSTOA's 54th Street depot had ~1 ...

Looking at the December 1965 list of buses in action, makes me wonder:

Aha. So theoretically, 1963 TDH-5303 buses within the 3485-3555 range would have been the ones traipsing through Washington Square Park in the 2 or so months prior to the September 1963 closure there ...
