Many thanks for posting the through-the-doorway photos of the turnstiles, the second one being in a postwar Mack on the First Avenue bus. I am almost positive that those are three-armed Perey turnstil ...

Thanks, Tommy, of the photos with explanations, events I have little memory of.
This discussion board is great, partly because people clarify, explain, then post superb photos!

I recall turnstiles on Comprehensive's 65th Street route. Did the East Side buses also have turnstiles?
Thanks. Joe

Before 9 a.m. today, 9.24.2017, I noticed many groups of young people walking through Wantagh, heading for Mulcahy's bar and DeCamp buses 624 and 626. The fellows and their attractive friends wore Jet ...

Wow! That's much later than I expected. So the Cross Bay route was not one of the early Triboro Coach lines, but the 30th Avenue route was. In the mid and later 1940's, having visited relatives on 44t ...

Friends from overseas rented an apartment near the Grand Avenue Newtown station for a month. They liked trips to Rockaway on the Q53 for the beach, as people have done for decades. I presume that Trib ...

Arthur, who passed away the other day, was born in 1928. The obit says he and his brother took over their father's bus business. I guess Arthur was the son of one of the Bernacchia Brothers who began ...

If I can find a photo of a northbound #1 Yonkers Railroad street car, it would be interesting to see what the destination read. I don't recall it, though Dad brought me several times to the end of tra ...

Thanks, Tommy, for something I had not noticed: the use of West before 242nd Street on the destination sign. In ordinary talk (growing up near West 225th Street), we almost never used West or East. It ...
