Ray how are ya!  I got another one for ya #725.  I spotted that one in the yard on Saturday.  The repaints are nice but you can tell that whoever does the body work they don't spend enough time to make sure that the original stripes don't show through the paint.

Also of note, quite a few of JFK's repainted Orion V's are now sporting "MTA" in white spray painted on the front wheel's blue hubs lately.  A nice touch, especially when the rims are fresh painted white with the lime green indicators adorning the lug nuts.

Add 5 9 4 5 to the list.  Spotted it on the Q11 tonight with Far Rock Decals on it.
Also, this is kinda strange to report, but 1174's body has been repainted all white except for the roof which is where the Ex-JBL red bolt still remains. What JFK did to this bus-I have NO Clue.  Be on the lookout for it.  I spotted it on the Q11 tonight.

Do you have a photo or know what bus had this? Thanks

1174 is not a JFK bus, I haven't seen that bus on any JFK routes ever. Maybe it's a FAR route or a bus fresh from Eastchester.

No because they are 40ft buses...so I've been told. They look like they are 40ft buses because the MTA would not run them if they were less than 40ft. I do remember when Queens Surface, Command and Green (a long time ago) ran 35ft and in some cases 30ft buses. However, I do think that those 1999 Orions are 40ft. I think Orion 05.503 are 35ft and 96 inches?

I'm getting my information from here, which lists them as 05.503s. Although, on second thought, you're right -- the 05.503 is the 35' long, 96" wide version.

Therefore, these buses are indeed 40Ft. I can't see the MTA operating 35ft buses.

There`s a pic of 1174 on Buschat I saw it today.

funny thing about that bus. I saw it on the Q22 about 2 weeks ago and it was so weird to me! i was able to take two pics but it wasnt that clear. i'll post them tomorrow

711 is the next bus slated for repainting.  It was sitting outside the depot stripped of everything.  It should be finshed sometime next week.

Here's the next bus to add to the list:

Photo was taken this morning.  Also 5975 is at JFK stripped of its original green and white paint.  Look for this bus to be the next blue and white repaint victim.

Don't know if this counts as a repaint, but I've noticed a few of CPD's Orion V CNG's are being repainted now, no more retapes.  Some two of them this morning running on the Q102 now sporting the darker blue stripes and bright white sides as those of its sister ex-TCC Orion V CNG repaints.

They were CPD Orion V CNG #9983 and #9960.  Perhaps that would explain the lull in the ex-GBL Orion V repaints a few months ago, some of CPD's Orion V CNG's were (and perhaps still are) being repainted.

Does the back of buses have a blue stripe on it?

Ray

#9960 didn't, all prestine white in the back, but didn't get to catch the rear of #9983.  Though, it did seem like on #9983, they kept the blue tape on the front of the bus, but repainted the sides (the front still had the skyblue tape).  But I had a one second glimpse of the front of #9983, so I might be off.  But, those two buses definitely had their sides repainted (and rear).

I saw 9983 and the back doesn't have the stripe, it's just sparkling white and the front stripe was also repainted. 9914 has also been repainted.

So were 9934 9935 and 9937.

That's true, but they were repainted back in late '05.  Almost two years after the takeover of QSC, some of the Orion V CNG's are being repainted (thankfully) now after a retape.

I was just wondering if it was redudant to mention buses that were already repainted/retaped being repainted now, that's why I mentioned them.  Somewhat of a paradox you might assume.

9934, 9935 and 9937 weren't repainted until late 06, those buses were not repainted they were the only ones that had the orange stripes still on the bus with a blue stripe covering them. I know this for sure, I followed those buses because they had the QSC design with a blue stripe over the orange one. After they finished the Triboro buses they repainted those 3 and that was sometime in oct or nov of 06. I don't think it's redundant, if it is than there is no point of having a NYCT repaint thread.

I'll give you 2 clear reasons why 9934-9935 and 9937 were repainted:
1. 9935:

2. 9937

Thanks for the photos, now 9935 and 37 as well as 34 have a white back instead of a black one and the orange stripe is gone.

9983 was repainted again.  Now it sports a painted blue stripe instead of the "tape."  The rear is still devoid of a stripe, unfortunately.

I guess we can say the "retaped" buses are finally going to get repainted into the MTA livery over the next few months.
